Day 1: Welcome to Sikkim

Welcome and pick-up from either Bagdogra Airport or New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Railway Station. We’ll straightaway hit the road to Gangtok- a distance of 120kms, covered in approximately 5 hours. We’ll stay overnight in Gangtok.

Day 2: Get the hang of it

Local sightseeing in Gangtok. This also helps us to get acclimatize to the high altitude. We can spend the day visiting the MG Road, the Himalayan Zoological Park, the ropeway, and the Nathula pass (a two hours drive). En route to the pass, we’ll also come across the magnolias Tsomgo Lake.

Day 3: Gangtok to Lachen

Gangtok to Lachen. A distance of 120km, covered in approximately 5hrs by car. Lachen is at a height of 8500ft. After an early breakfast, we’ll proceed to Lachen. The route meanders through small villages nestled in narrow valleys up to the forest grove of Kabi Lungchuk. Seven Sister Waterfalls, Shinghik Viewpoint comes next with its promises of one of the most glorious vies of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Situated at a height of over 4000m Singhik offers a much-needed break to the traveler on the way to Lachen. Cross Chungthang- the confluence of Lachen Chu and Lachun Chu. Lachen is also the base for the popular Green Lake trek. Overnight stay at Lachen.

Day 4: Day Excursion of Gurudongmar Lake

Lachen to Lachung (50km in 2 hours). Early morning (0500hrs) drive to Thangu Village (4100m), a remote high-altitude hamlet of the Tibetan Nomads. Thereafter proceed to Chopta Valley (4000m) wherein we’ll have breakfast and also get some breathtaking views of the Alpine Valley of frozen rivers. From Chopta Valley we’ll drive for another 30kms to the resplendent Gurudongmar Lake (5225m), close to the Indo-Tibetan Border. Gurudongmar is one of the highest and biggest freshwater Lakes in Sikkim. After spending some quality time in the vicinity of the Lake we’ll head back to Lachen and thence to Lachung.

Early morning we’ll drive to Yamthung Valley, a flower-bedecked alpine valley. Other than the beauty of the verdant valley we’ll also enjoy the Hot springs in the locality, close to the Indo-Tibetan border, one of the highest motorable roads in Sikkim. The valley remains covered with snow from December to March while it is full of rhododendrons during April – to May. En route, we’ll take a dip in the Sulphur Hot Spring. Thereafter we’ll head back to Gangtok via Chungthang. We’ll be reaching Gangtok by late evening and staying overnight.
